Joash Tan Ah Chuan

Managing Director

Joash has over 32 years of experience working as a loss adjuster. He started his loss adjusting career with an international loss adjuster, spending 17 years there before moving to Mestari. He has extensive experience in a wide range of commercial claims and risk-related matters. He specialises in loss adjusting assignments involving CAR/EAR, IAR Machinery Breakdown, and Liability-related risks including those related to power generation, steel industry and oil & gas. Joash is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters and a Fellow of the International Federation of Adjusting Association. He was Chairman of the Association of Malaysian Loss Adjusters for the years 2006-2009.

Datuk Christopher Wan Soo Kee

Datuk Christopher Wan Soo Kee, a retired Commissioner of Police in the Royal Malaysia Police. He joined the police service in 1969 and had served the country and community for 39 years. During his tenure of service, he held various command positions in the Force as an Assistant Director of Management Bukit Aman, Head Special Branch of Kuala Lumpur, Chief Police Officer of Melaka and Penang, and Director of CID Bukit Aman. After retirement from the RMP, Datuk Christopher was appointed as a Member of the Election Commission of Malaysia (SPR) by His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong from 2008 to 2017.

Lee Lay Choo

Lee Lay Choo read law at the University of Sydney, Australia and graduated with a Bachelor of Laws in 1987. She was subsequently called to the Supreme Court of New South Wales, Australia in 1988 as Barrister and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1992. She also holds a Master of Laws from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia obtained in 2001.

She joined the Malaysian Judicial and Legal Service in January 1989 with her first posting as a Senior Assistant Registrar at the High Court of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur. Between 1990 to 1996, she served as a Magistrate at various Magistrate Courts across Malaysia. She first joined the Attorney General’s Chambers in 1997 and was made the first resident Deputy Public Prosecutor based with the High Court of Malaya in Muar, Johor, Malaysia. Shortly thereafter, she was posted as the legal adviser to the Ministry of Health in Malaysia (from 1998 to 1999 and again from 2005 to 2008).

She also served as a Senior Federal Counsel in the Privatization Unit of Advisory Division and as Deputy Public Prosecutor in the Appeals Unit of the Prosecution Division at the Attorney General’s Chambers from 2001 to 2005. She was also the legal adviser to the Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry in Malaysia from 2008 to 2009. Other positions which she held during her law career in the civil service were Deputy Commissioner Law Revision and Reform at the Attorney General’s Chambers (2009 to 2013) and Director General of the Judicial and Legal Training Institute at the Prime Minister’s Office (2013 to 2015). Her last appointment before her retirement was as the Senior Federal Counsel of the Attorney General’s Chambers (2015 to 2016).

She is currently listed as the panel arbitrator and adjudicator for the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre of Arbitration. Ms. Lee has been appointed Board member of the Malaysian Medical Device Authority under the auspices of the Ministry of Health.  Her tenure is for 2 years from 2 January 2019 until 31 December 2020.

Chris Phen Yee S’ng

Chris is a Chartered Loss Adjuster by Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters (CILA) and Australasian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjuster (AICLA). He is also a Chartered Insurance Practitioner (ACII) by Chartered Insurance Institute. In addition, he has acquired his academic qualification from both University of Melbourne (Master of Science – Information System) and Monash University (Master of Professional Accounting) during his studies in Melbourne, Australia.

Upon returning from Australia, he joined Mestari as an executive loss adjuster handling a wide range of losses such as property losses, burglary, fidelity guarantee, consequential losses, etc. With his background in IT and accounting, he has a special interest in business interruption losses.

During his career, he has handled multi-million property and business interruption losses. He is also involved in managing the catastrophic flood in Kelantan, Malaysia in the year 2014 in which they have managed to resolve over 8,000 claims.

Lee Yew Seng

Lee Yew Seng has over 32 years of loss adjusting experience in handling commercial and industrial claims including associated business interruption. He specializes in loss adjusting assignments involving both property and financial losses including financial institutions, Fidelity Guarantee and Theft/Robbery claims.

Lee, a chartered loss adjuster, is an Associate of the Australasian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjusters and a Fellow of the International Federation of Adjusting Association.

Brendan Lee Soon Beng

Brendan started his career in loss adjusting in 1981 in a leading international company and handled various classes of property and casualty claims including commercial, financial and project losses for corporate clients. He was appointed a manager in 1985 and a Director in 1987 and handled their KL office operations until 1996.

Presently, Brendan is an Executive Vice President in Mestari and his portfolio includes Lloyd’s of London. He also specializes in financial claims, particularly Consequential Loss and Jewellers Block losses including business interruption claims related to power generation, steel and port industries.

For hydroelectric mega-projects, he has been involved in claims at the Kenyir, Terengganu and Bakun, Sarawak dams. Brendan has been an Associate of the Malaysian Insurance Institute (MII) and Chartered Insurance Institute of the UK (CII) since 1987. He was also a management Committee Member of the Association of Malaysian Loss Adjuster (AMLA) for several years and a regular lecturer for the MII handling fire, burglary, consequential loss claims. He has been giving talks to insurers, brokers and clients in the industry over the past several years.

Lim Lye Choon

Motor Own-Damage

Started as an adjuster in 1980 and joined Mestari Penang in 1984. Trained to handle all classes of insurance claims and started Mestari Kota Bharu in 1985. Helmed the Kota Bharu branch till 2010, when transferred to Mestari Kuala Lumpur to head the OD division. During the stint in Kota Bharu, had dealt in all classes of insurance claims and with all the insurance branches operating in Kota Bharu and Kuala Terengganu.

Kon Khen Wai

Motor Own-Damage

Kon Khen Wai joined Mestari Kuala Lumpur in 1997 and was trained as a motor adjuster. Kon was transferred to head the motor OD department in Melaka branch in 1999. After a 2 years stint in Melaka, Kon was then posted to helm the Kota Kinabalu motor OD department in 2001 before returning to Kuala Lumpur in 2004. Kon is currently based in Kuala Lumpur office and assisting Mr. Lim Lye Choon in managing the motor OD division.

Puna started from an IT background and worked in the relevant field for few years before commencing his career in loss adjusting and investigations from 1996 onwards. Puna has extensive knowledge and wealth of his 21 years of experience in dealing with bodily injury, own damage investigation and theft claims. He brings with him his track record of service on investigations of motor claims.

Raziff has been involved in the legal and corporate sector in various capacities for more than 30 years. He was a legal officer in Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad (now SME Bank Berhad) for 5 years and a practicing lawyer for 9 years before joining Mestari in December 1999.

Lim Wei Chong

Wei Chong has 18 years’ experience within the loss adjusting profession and prior to his appointment, he was the Deputy General Manager overseeing the Non-Motor claims management at a local adjusting firm and was extensively involved in managing CAT flood and property & casualty claims. Throughout his 18 years of loss adjusting career, he was involved in numerous large commercial/industrial, financial and liability-related losses.

With his extensive experience — and as one of our Practice Leaders and Account Directors — he brings a wealth of expertise to his role which will complement our senior management team both in technical and business development.

Leong Tuck Min

Tuck Min has over 30 years of experience as a loss adjuster working for both international and local adjusting firms in Malaysia. He has extensive experience in managing and handling large/complex losses, catastrophic and a wide range of claims. He specialises in CAR/EAR, IAR, Machinery Breakdown including Business Interruption claims related to construction, power generation/distribution and oil & gas industries. Tuck Min is a qualified Chartered Loss Adjusters and holds professional memberships in Australasian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjusters and The Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance.
